Panhead is New Zealand's very own craft brewing monster truck rally, putting the frighteners on anyone who thinks beer should mind its own business and cower behind the wine rack. Launched in 2013 out of the old Dunlop tyre factory in darkest Maidstone, we were embraced enthusiastically from the get go by Wellington's beer cognoscenti of beardy app developers, design grads and contractors from the Ministry of Social Development. Starting with four stock beers of spothitting quality and consistency it wasn't long before we were turning out hoppedup, weirdedout specials every other week just to sate the demand of a public who wanted their tastebuds destroyed with every pint.

Tiamana is the Māori word for Germany. The brewery was founded in 2013 by Annika, a born-and-raised Berliner, who now calls Wellington home. Her father was a brewer at the iconic Schultheiss brewery - where the original Berliner Weisse style was brewed. Following the family tradition, Tiamana brews classic German-style beers as well as more experimental 'new world' styles.

When King Gustavus Adolphus of Sweden invaded Bavaria during the Thirty Years' War in 1632, he threatened to sack and burn the entire city of Munich. He agreed to leave the city in peace if the citizens surrendered some hostages, and 600,000 barrels of Hofbräuhaus beer.

In 2011, Blackdog brew co. was created in the heart of Wellington, the craft beer capital of New Zealand. Since then the brewers have been doing something a little special, a little different and having some fun along the way.

The Sprig & Fern produces real craft beers and ciders at our brewery in Nelson, New Zealand. Our award-winning beers are 100% natural, brewed with no artificial additives and unpasteurised to retain maximum craft beer flavour.

Our brewer makes beer to bring people together, so don't waste good beer on bad conversations. Kelly Ryan, our multi-award winning brewer brings a lineup of Germanic inspired beers, along with a couple of his hop- forward Pale Ales.

At mike’s, brewing great beer isn’t just a job - It’s a passion. mike’s was founded on a strong entrepreneurial spirit, still burning strong since 1989.  All our ingredients are natural, there’s no stuff in our beer that doesn’t belong in real beer.

The Chimney Cake is originally from Szekelyland but Tom and Erica bring it to Wellington. They were traditionally made for special days like weddings, baptisms and birthdays. We think Sunday is a special enough day! It’s a delicious recipe and has been altered by the traditions and different local custom for centuries.

Finger wide dough is rolled onto a wooden stick and turned over the open fire or gas flame. The sticky caramel layer of melted sugar insures the chopped nuts, cocoa, chocolate, cinnamon, raisins, vanilla, almond, or whatever else sticks to the pastry chimney. Delicious freshly made and hot with a coffee.
